 At some point in the search, the committee will send reference requests to the email addresses provided by applicants.

 Sometimes this happens as soon as you apply; in other cases references are only collected for late-stage applicants.

 The email your reference provider receives will contain a link to a reference submission portal, as well as instructions for uploading the reference letter.
